Therefore, if YOU want to be a successful online marketer, then YOU should be building your own Buyers list. Building your Buyers list should be a never ending process. The larger your Buyers list, the greater the income potential! So you should always be building your Buyers list and sending offers to them.

How do you find the email addresses of online marketers?

DO NOT BUY them or you will be dead broke in no time! Most of the email lists that are being sold as income opportunity leads are worthless! List brokers who sell crappy lists are almost as low as the banksters and politicians who attempt to run your life!

Now that you know how to find the best prospects for your Buyers list you need to know what kind of Email Application to use to contact your prospects.

Should you use Email Software installed on your computer or an Email Script installed on a Server?

The short answer is that you should use both types of email applications. You should use an email script installed on a server to send mass emails or campaigns and to process unsubscribe requests. You should use email software installed on your computer to reply to questions and for reverse email marketing.

You could use email software installed on your computer to send mass emails and process unsubscribe requests but there are a few good reasons why you should not do that. The main reason is that your IP address will be displayed in each email that you send and if people contact your ISP and accuse you of spamming then your ISP may terminate your service! Another reason not to use email software to send mass email campaigns is that it uses your computer's resources and may slow down your computer making it difficult for you to use your computer to perform other tasks. Your computer may crash and then you will have to reboot it causing you to lose unsaved data and waste your valuable time. A server running a UNIX based operating system is much more stable than a computer running WINDOWS.

Email Script installed on a Server

There are certain features that you should look for when choosing an Email Script to install on a server. There are some simple scripts that you should avoid. For example, you do NOT want to use an email script like ZIP SENDER or EASY 123 EMAIL SENDER that requires you to keep a window open on your web browser. If your computer or your web browser crashes during an email campaign you may have to start your campaign over again. Sending duplicate emails will not make you more popular and it will make you look unprofessional!

Here are the features that you should look for when choosing an email script:

  • Simple to Install

  • Simple to Learn How to Use

  • Uses MYSQL Database

  • Stores Unlimited Mailing Lists

  • Stores Unlimited Messages

  • Can Create Unlimited Custom Fields

  • Can Import Lists

  • Can Export Lists

  • Can Send via SMTP or Sendmail

  • Can Send Broadcasts Immediately or Schedule for Later

  • Can Control Sending Speed (by only sending 1 email after a certain # of seconds)

  • Can Personalize Messages from Custom Fields of List

  • Can Add and Remove Prospects and Edit Prospects Data Manually

  • Option to use Unsubscribe Link (subscriber is automatically removed from list)

  • Option to receive Email when someone Unsubscribes

  • Link Tracking (shows you the people who clicked a specific link in your message)

  • Can Export Prospects who Clicked a specific link

  • Can Process Bounces and Remove those Prospects from List

Some of the features listed above do not need an explanation but I want to go into more detail about the ones that do and explain why you need them.

Controlling the Sending Speed is necessary for 2 very good reasons:

1) If your script is hosted on a shared server then the number of emails that you can send will be limited. The limit may be by the hour or by the day. When you are looking for a webhost to host your email script, the first thing you should do is contact them and find out about their email sending limit.

2) Another important reason for being able to control the speed of your email application is that many of the major email providers will only accept a certain number of emails from the same IP address within a specified time. If you set your email application to send 1 email every 15 seconds then you should be fine. That may seem slow but sending at that rate equates to more than 5,700 emails in 24 hours. If you want to send faster than that then install another email script on a different domain with a different IP address. The faster you send from the same domain and IP address, the faster your emails will be blocked!

Bounce Processing is an essential feature for your email script unless you are going to retrieve the bounces in an email application on your computer and process them there. Keeping your email lists clean (removing undeliverable email addresses) is necessary for 2 very good reasons:

1) Some email providers will start blocking all of your emails if you send too many emails to undeliverable email addresses within a specified time.

2) Removing the undeliverable addresses from your list will save you time. It will take less time to email the list the next time if you have removed the undeliverables. If you keep a master undeliverable list then you can compare it to any new email lists that you get and purge the undeliverables from the new list before you mail to it.

Link Tracking is an essential feature for an email script for 4 very good reasons:

1) It enables you to choose the best email ads or messages by seeing which ad generated the most clicks on your link. Be sure to split your list equally in order to obtain valid results.

2) It enables you to determine the responsiveness of lists by comparing the number of clicks to the number of emails sent. Be sure to send the same ad in order to obtain valid results. If you have a responsive ad but it generates less than 5 clicks for every 1,000 emails sent then you have a sorry list. Save the data of those who clicked a link for more information and don't waste your time emailing that list again!

3) It enables you to create a responsive list by creating a new list from the people who clicked your link for more information. Some people will not complete an opt-in form because they want to remain private but they may be interested in your offers and buy!

4) It keeps the domain names of your website or squeeze pages from getting blocked. Link tracking uses a tracking link that has the same domain name as your email script. When someone clicks the tracking link in your email ad, they are redirected to your website or squeeze page which should be hosted on another domain.

Having an Unsubscribe Link where the unsubscribers are removed automatically from the list is a great feature that will save you a lot of time and help to keep you out of trouble.

Another great feature is the ability to receive an email notification each time someone unsubscribes. You should configure the email application on your computer to automatically add the email addresses of unsubscribers to an address book that you created specifically for the unsubscribers. Before you email a new list you should export the unsubscribers from the address book and import them into a Master Removal list in a database. Then you should purge the new email list of unsubscribers before you email the new list.

The Bulk Removal feature will save you a lot of time by enabling you to remove email addresses automatically instead of having to do it manually and also to keep you from sending duplicate emails if you use it properly. Here are 3 ways to use it:

1) Before you begin a campaign to a new prospect list, remove the people who are in your Master Removal list.

2) After a campaign, remove people who clicked a link for more information from a prospect list.

3) After a campaign, remove opt-ins from a prospect list.

Recommendation:

AMLM (Autoresponder and Mailing List Manager): It can function as an Autoresponder as well as a Bulk Email Sender. It has all of the features listed above plus many more. The script is very stable and can handle large lists and mails for days without any problems. AMLM can be purchased for less than $100. Now that you know that you need an email script to contact your prospects, you need a server to to host your email script. You may want to start off with Shared Hosting but a Virtual Private Server (VPS) will be much better.

I use Jaguar PC for my hosting service and I use a Virtual Private Server. I have used their service for Email Marketing for years so I can recommend them for that even though their technical support could be better. If you can recommend other hosting services that you have used for Email Marketing then please send me an email.

There is no limit on the number of emails that you can send if you use their VPS hosting service. The email sending limit for their Shared hosting service is 1,000 emails per hour which is the highest sending limit that I have found for a Shared hosting service.

A limit of 1,000 emails per hour is sufficient if your email lists contain very few bad email addresses. The problem is that the mail server will try to resend some bounced messages for several days. The email is in a queue waiting to be resent and as long as it is in the queue it counts toward your sending limit. If you are emailing a list for the first time then it will probably contain a lot of bad email addresses. If you are sending thousands of emails then eventually you will reach your limit because of all the bad email addresses in the queue and you will not be able to send any more emails for awhile. That will not be good for your business so it is worth paying the extra money for a VPS if you are going to use it to send mass emails.

Another good reason for using a Virtual Private Server is that you can purchase additional IP addresses and assign each one to a different domain in your Web Host Manager (WHM). Then you can go to the Exim Configuration Editor in WHM and under Domains and IPs- you can check the box there which will cause the outgoing mail to be sent from the domain's IP address instead of the main IP address of your VPS. If you can't figure out how to do this then just submit a support request and let Jaguar do it for you.

You want to be able to do what I just described in case one or more of the major email services start blocking your emails. They may start blocking your emails because one of their customers reported you for spamming or because you tried to send too many emails within a specified time. They may also start blocking your emails if you sent too many emails that bounced. They usually key on your IP address to block your emails but sometimes they key on your domain name.

If you have your email script installed on more than one domain name with different IP addresses then you can start emailing from a domain/IP that is not blocked. The more emails that get delivered, the more money you can make!

Email Software installed on a Computer

As I mentioned previously, you should use email software installed on your computer to respond to questions and for reverse email marketing. You may also want to use it to process your bounces especially for your best lists like your opt-in lists. Processing bounces is NOT for the beginning Email Marketer so you will probably want to use an email script that can process the bounces instead. If you do decide to process the bounces on your computer then it will take you a lot of time to create the filters and you will need to know how to use a database application like MS ACCESS. It is a good idea NOT to use the Microsoft Email Application that is already installed on your computer if you use a WINDOWS operating system. Those email applications are more susceptible to viruses and other malware. Here are the features that you should look for when choosing email software:

  • Simple to Install

  • Can Create Unlimited Accounts

  • Can Create Unlimited Folders within Accounts

  • Can Store Unlimited Message Templates

  • Can Create Unlimited Address Books

  • Can Import and Export Lists or Address Books

  • Can Forward or Redirect Messages Automatically

  • Can Install Anti-Virus and Anti-Spam Plug-ins

Recommendation:

THE BAT (Professional Edition): It has all of the features listed above plus many more. It costs less than $50. I have used the software for years and it is very reliable.

I recommend that you purchase the AGAVA Antispam Servant which is a trainable anti-spam plug-in for THE BAT that costs only $14. It will save you a lot of time because it moves spam into a junk folder. You will be able to go through them faster and delete them all at once. It works very well at filtering spam after you have trained it.

Steps You Need To Take To Get Started

1) Purchase the Data Harvesting Software: Install the Data Harvesting Software and start harvesting the prospects that you will be contacting in order to build your Buyers list. The software is easy to learn how to use! Just watch the video tutorials. If you can only afford one right now, get PHONE GOLD MINER PRO first. The data it collects will be more targeted since it harvests the data from membership sites.

2) Buy at least 2 Domain Names: You will need at least one for your AMLM email script and one for your squeeze pages. If you can afford more than one copy of the AMLM email script then buy more and a buy a domain name for each copy. You will get blocked by some major email providers eventually. When you get blocked you should mail from another domain name on a different IP address and not use the blocked IP address and domain name until it is no longer being blocked. That could take weeks!

If you only have one copy of AMLM and your domain name gets blocked then you will have to move it to another domain. If you can't do it yourself then you will be paying to have it done and waiting until it is done before you can start mailing again. If you don't have another domain name to install it on then you will have to buy one and wait for the DNS to propagate before you can start mailing again. Therefore, buy an extra domain name and have it hosted on your VPS even if you cannot afford an extra copy of AMLM. Remember, the more emails that get delivered the more money you can make! 

MORE TIPS:

  • You don't want the domain name for your squeeze pages or website to get blocked so don't send mass emails from it or use the domain name in your email ads. Use a tracking link instead.

  • Pay the extra money for private registration so that it will be more difficult to find out who you are. It will also save you time because you will not receive as much  spam since the email address that you used for registering your domain will not be available to the public.

  • Picking domain names to use for your email script is not that important but it is important for your website or squeeze pages.

3) Buy 2 Web Hosting Accounts: Get a VPS for your AMLM email script(s) and a Shared server for your Squeeze page(s). I have already discussed why I recommend a VPS for your AMLM email script(s). A Shared server will be sufficient to host your website or squeeze pages and autoresponder script if you decide to use your own autoresponder script instead of an autoresponder service.

MORE TIPS:

  • Get a VPS account from Jaguar PC to host your AMLM email script(s).

  • Get a Shared hosting account from Namecheap to host your Website and/or Squeeze Pages and Autoresponder script if you decide to use your own. AMLM also functions as an autoresponder so get another copy and you will not have to learn how to use another application. The email sending limit for a Shared server with Namecheap is 200 emails per hour which is sufficient to send autoresponses. The Pro Hosting package with Namecheap is only $6.95 per month or $69.95 per year.

  • Set up 2 email addresses at each domain where you plan to install the email script to use in your email script. One will be used for your From email address (firstname@yourdomain) and the other will be used for the Return-path email address which is used for bounce processing (bounces@yourdomain).

4) Get Your Squeeze Page(s): Create Them or Buy Them

MORE TIPS:

  • Have a Squeeze Page for each income opportunity, product or service that you are promoting.

  • Get a freebie to give away to your subscribers. Zip it and upload it to a server. If you are creating a free report, review the instructions for that on the Marketing Resources page.

  • Add your autoresponder code to your squeeze page(s) and test your squeeze page(s) to be sure they are working properly.

5) Get An Autoresponder: Buy a Script or Buy the Service. Either way you need to learn how to use it.

6) Buy the AMLM Email Script(s): Install it yourself or pay for the installation. Then learn how to use it.

7) Setup the Email Software on Your Computer: Buy THE BAT, install it and learn how to use it or use the email application already installed on your computer.

MORE TIPS:

  • Create an account for each installed email script.

  • Create at least one account for your autoresponder.

  • Create a message template for reverse marketing to promote harvesting software and other products and services related to your niche.

  • Create a Marketers address book and when you receive solicitations or questions from Marketers- add their data to the address book and use reverse marketing.

  • Create an Unsubscribers address book.

  • Create a filter for unsubscribe notifications and remove requests so that the email addresses will automatically be added to the Unsubscribers address book. People who do not put REMOVE or UNSUBSCRIBE in the Subject will have to be added manually.

8) Procedures for Building Your Lists: Now that you have all your tools and everything setup I will go over the procedures you need to follow to build your lists.

Your main goal should be to build a list of BUYERS! Everyone with an email address is NOT a potential buyer for what you are offering. That is why you must start with lists of people who are potential buyers or prospects in your niche or market. Remember, that the niche I will be focusing on is Making Money Online or Internet Marketing.

If you are looking for people to join your income opportunity then obviously the best prospects are people who are interested in looking at income opportunity offers. The best place to find those people are in the membership lists of income opportunity programs! Income opportunities come and go so even though most members of a particular program will not be interested in looking an an income opportunity NOW, they may be interested later. However, there will be some people in the list who are not doing so well in that particular program so they will be interested in looking at other income opportunities NOW!

Active members of an income opportunity program will most likely be interested in what you are offering if it will help them to Make More Money in their program. That may be a product or service or prospects for their opportunity! Offer them something they NEED and you will get what you want which is MONEY of course. Therefore, while your primary goal may be to find people for your income opportunity- be ready to offer people who are not interested in your business something they need to build their business!

List Definitions

Now, I will explain how to build lists of BUYERS. First of all, I will define some list names to help you better understand what I am going to explain.

C Lists: The lists of people that you start with to build your Buyers Lists will be referred to as C Lists or Prospect Lists. That may be lists that you purchased but the best lists will most likely come from the data that you harvest. Eventually you should have quite a few C Lists.

B Lists: The lists of people who click the links for more information about your offers will be referred to as Link Clickers. The list of people who send you solicitations about your market or niche (internet marketing for example) will be referred to as Solicitors. Link Clickers and Solicitors are also referred to as B Lists.

Since the people in your B Lists performed some kind of action like clicking a link for more info or responding with a question or similar offer, they are more likely to become buyers than people in your C Lists.

You may have several B Lists. For example, one B List may consist of people who clicked a link for more info about an income opportunity or replied with a question about your opportunity. Another B List may consist of people who replied with a question about data harvesting software or clicked a link for more info about it.

A Lists: The lists of people who fill out an opt-in form on your squeeze pages with a valid email address will be referred to as your A Lists or Opt-In Lists.

The people on your A Lists are much more likely to become buyers than people in your B Lists. They performed 2 actions: They read your email and clicked a link for more info and then they read your squeeze page and opted in to receive even more information.

You may have several A Lists. For example, one A List may consist of people who opted in to receive more information about an income opportunity. Another A List may consist of people who opted in to receive more information about a particular product or service.

You should have each squeeze page tied to an autoresponder with several follow-up messages. Some people will not buy from you right away so keep contacting them about your offer and also send them other related offers.

Buyers Lists: The lists of people who Made You Money are your Buyers Lists. You may have several Buyers Lists. For example, one may consist of people who joined your income opportunity. Another may consist of people who purchased data harvesting software.

You want your Buyers Lists to be categorized so that you can send them similar offers. If what they bought HELPED them then they will probably buy from you again and again!

Procedures

1) To build your BUYERS List as fast as possible you need to start with the most targeted lists that you can find. You must start with a good prospect list or C List. You should always be searching for good C Lists. Your success depends on it!

2) You want to create an ad that will generate the most clicks on your link for more information so you need to test different ads and different subject lines. The way to do that is to use a procedure called split-testing.

  1. Split one of your large C Lists equally into at least 2 segments with at least 2,000 people in each segment.

  2. Create an ad for each segment. Keep your ads very short! The purpose of your ad is to get people to click a link for more information and go to your squeeze page.

  3. Create an account in AMLM or your email script.

  4. Create custom fields in the account if you plan to use more fields than first name and email address.

  5. Make a copy of the account for every list segment.

  6. Import your list segments into each account.

  7. Create the tracking link for each account using the link to your squeeze page. Even though your prospects will be going to the same squeeze page the tracking link for each account will be different.

  8. Copy and paste each ad into the different accounts.

  9. Copy and paste the correct tracking link into each ad.

  10. Send the 2 email campaigns.

  11. A couple of days after your campaigns have finished count the clicks for each campaign. The ad that generated the most clicks for more information is the winner.

  12. Do the same thing over again comparing a new ad to the winning ad until you have created the most responsive ad possible. Be sure to keep the body of the ad the same sometimes and test a new subject.

3) Now that you have a great ad you need to create the best squeeze page that you can. The purpose of your squeeze page is to generate Opt-Ins or an A List. You want to convert as many Link Clickers into Opt-Ins as possible so that they will be in your autoresponder to receive follow-up messages about your offer and to receive related offers. You will accomplish this by using split-testing.

Note: Most autoresponder services will not allow you to import lists but if you are using your own autoresponder script you could import your B Lists into your autoresponder. However, since those on your B Lists have not actually opted in they may report you for spam so you may not want to do that. Your autoresponder should be on the same domain as your squeeze pages and you do not want that IP address or domain to ever get blocked. Therefore, it is best to send follow-up messages and new offers to your B Lists from your email script.

  1. Create 2 different Squeeze pages. Improving your squeeze page could be as simple as changing the freebie you are using as an incentive to get people to opt-in. So you could start by making a copy of your squeeze page and only change the information about your freebie. Or you could use the same the freebie and change some of the text or information about your offer.

  2. Upload the 2 Squeeze pages to your server.

  3. Create a new account in your autoresponder and all of the messages and copy it so that you have 2 new accounts. If you already have an autoresponder account created with the appropriate messages then just make 2 copies of it.

  4. Split one of your C Lists equally into 2 segments of equal size.

  5. Create a new account in AMLM or your email script.

  6. Copy and paste your best ad into the new account.

  7. Make a copy of the account so that you have 2 new accounts.

  8. Import your list segments into each account.

  9. Create a tracking link for each account using the 2 different links to your 2 different squeeze pages.

  10. Copy and paste the correct tracking link into each ad.

  11. Send the 2 email campaigns

  12. A couple of days after your campaigns have finished count the clicks for each campaign. The number of clicks will not be the same but they should be close because you mailed the same ad to the same list. You just split the list.

  13. Count the number of opt-ins that each squeeze page generated and compare the number of opt-ins to the number of clicks from each campaign. The squeeze page that has the lowest number of clicks per opt-in is the winner. For example if squeeze page A generated 5 opt-ins from 25 clicks then that would be 5 clicks per opt-in. If squeeze page B generated 10 opt-ins from 30 clicks then that would be 3 clicks per opt-in. Therefore, squeeze page B is the winner.

  14. Do the same thing over again comparing a new squeeze page to the winning squeeze page until you have created the best converting squeeze page possible.

4) You will be able to determine which prospect lists or C Lists are the best after you have mailed them by comparing the number of clicks to the number of emails sent. Of course the ads need to be exactly the same and the deliverability of the lists need to be the same in order to be valid but you will know enough to be able to determine if it is worth your time to email a list again. Once you have determined the best ad and squeeze page to use in a campaign you should email your best C Lists again.

If you used bounce processing and an unsubscribe or remove link in your previous campaign each C list will be smaller and much cleaner than before. Most of the bad email addresses will have been removed. However, email addresses go bad and people decide to unsubscribe all the time so a particular C List will always be shrinking as long as you continue to send emails to it.

Before you start another campaign to your C Lists you need to remove all the Link Clickers (B Lists). They will still be in your C Lists so you want to remove them and keep them in separate lists. Since everyone who opted in clicked a link first, the Opt-Ins (A Lists) will be removed when you remove the Link Clickers. The Opt-Ins will also be in your Link Clickers list so you want to remove them from there. You can use Bulk Removal in AMLM to accomplish these tasks. Here are the steps:

  1. After you have logged in to AMLM open the account or C List that you want to contact again.

  2. Click on Link Tracker from the menu.

  3. Click on Active Prospects from the menu.

  4. If you used more than 1 link choose the appropriate link.

  5. Click on Show.

  6. Save the file of Link Clickers to your computer.

  7. Open the file in a spreadsheet. Use Excel (Microsoft Office) or Calc (OpenOffice). OpenOffice is FREE and it is similar to Microsoft Office. Click HERE to get it.

  8. Copy the email addresses (Ctrl C).

  9. Go back to AMLM and click on Subscriber Manager from the menu.

  10. Click on Bulk Removal from the menu.

  11. Paste the email addresses in the box (Ctrl V).

  12. Click on Remove Prospects.

  13. Click on Remove Prospects again and the Link Clickers will be removed. If you were promoting more than one thing in your campaign and used an additional tracking link then you need to repeat the steps above.

  14. Create a new account in AMLM for each list of Link Clickers and import them.

  15. Go to the appropriate account or list in your autoresponder.

  16. Export the Opt-Ins to your computer. Be sure to save them so you will have a copy in case something happens to your database on your server.

  17. Repeat steps 7 and 8.

  18. Go back to AMLM and open the account for your Link Clickers.

  19. Click on Subscriber Manager from the menu.

  20. Repeat steps 10 - 13 and the Opt-Ins will be removed from your Link Clickers. If you created more than one Opt-In list from the previous campaign then repeat.

  21. Click on Export list from the menu.

  22. Choose the format you want and export All to a File.

  23. Click the Export button.

  24. Save the file to your computer. Now, you have a backup copy of your Link Clickers.

5) Before you begin a campaign to a new C List you need to remove any people who are in your Master Removal List. That is the most important thing you can do to stay out of trouble!

Now that you know how to use the Bulk Removal feature in AMLM it should not be a problem for you. Here is what you need to do...

  • Configure AMLM to send email notifications when someone unsubscribes.

  • Configure THE BAT or your email application on your computer to add the email addresses from the Unsubscribe notifications to a special address book that you created specifically for Unsubscribers.

  • Export the Unsubscribers from your address book.

  • Import the Unsubscribers email addresses into a database and/or Save them in a text file.

  • Copy and paste the email addresses into AMLM.

  • Delete all the Unsubscribers from the Address Book in THE BAT or the next time that you export them you will have duplicates in your Master Removal List unless you know how to remove the duplicates.
